This is a 2nd revision edition of an alternate ending I had previously wrote but due to computer technicalities and errors, the original version has been completely lost. Only recently have I found the motivation to create and present to those who even looked at this blog, a [very poor] 2nd rendition.

In this alternate ending, it starts immediately following the events of Act III.

The Faux Alternate Ending: Deux Edition.

Helmer. (Sinks down on a chair at the door and buries his face in his hands). Nora! Nora! (Looks around, and rises.) Empty. She is gone. (A hope flashes across his mind.) The most wonderful thing of all--?

(The sound of a door shutting is heard from below.)

(Walks around, pondering in thought.) Perhaps she is just angry and let her emotions get the best of her. Of course! It would be silly of me to think that my little skylark could live on her own. After all, what is a woman without her man? Surely she will find her way back into my life one way or another. (Helmer goes into bedroom and lies on bed.) Oh Nora, what I would do to have my little song bird in my arms once more. (Sighs, then drifts into sleep.)

(THE SAME SCENE- It is morning, light is shining in through the windows, with birds outside chirping by. Helmer is sleeping.)

Nora. (Shakes Helmer gently.) Torvald!

Helmer. (Dazed and confused.) Whuuh-.

Nora. (Playfully) You have to get up! You have been sleeping all day for so long! I could have mistaken you for being dead! (Collects herself and walks toward the table.) Come in here Torvald, and see what I bought.

Helmer. Y-you bought these?

Nora. Yes but, Torvald, this year we really can let ourselves go a little. This is the first Christmas that we have not needed to economise.

Helmer. (Scratches head, comes to a realization.) Of, of course, you are absolutely right. Anything for my lit- (Pause.) love.

FIN.
